1 John 1:7-8
(7) ἐὰν δὲ ἐν τῷ φωτὶ περιπατῶμεν ὡς αὐτός ἐστιν ἐν τῷ φωτί, κοινωνίαν ἔχομεν μετ’ ἀλλήλων καὶ τὸ αἷμα Ἰησοῦ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καθαρίζει ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἁμαρτίας. (8) ἐὰν εἴπωμεν ὅτι ἁμαρτίαν οὐκ ἔχομεν, ἑαυτοὺς πλανῶμεν καὶ ἡ ἀλήθεια οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν ἡμῖν.
(7) But if we should walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son is purifying us from every sin. (8) If we should say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Lexical and Syntactic Notes:
1:7-8 These conditions includes a “present general reality” (Wallace, 663) in that it is more than merely hypothetical or probable. Due to this, these verses would refer to believers and not the opposite (see Wallace, 698-9).
